With reference to Major-General Black's des-
patch No.223 of the 6th. August and to your reply thereto No.
285 of the 2nd.November last, I have the honour to forward to you the enclosed map showing the difference between the ori-

General Black has already advanced the ob-
jections of the Colonial Government to the rounding off of
the Eastern extension of the Naval Yard, and I have myself ad-
dressed Vice-Admiral Sir R.H. Seymour on this point. It is un-
necessary to re-iterate those objections, but I trust that you
will see fit to make a further representation to the Admiralty
with a view of some satisfactory arrangement being arrived
at with the War Department whereby the Eastern end of the Ad-
